Actress, comedian, and talk show host Bonnie Hunt has a long relationship with Northwestern’s Lurie Cancer Center. Bonnie first studied improvisation and acting at The Second City while working as an oncology nurse at Northwestern.
Over the course of “The Bonnie Hunt Show’s” first year, one-of-a-kind items from celebrity guests were auctioned off in “Bonnie’s Basement”--raising almost $200,000 to support cancer research at the Lurie Cancer Center. Bonnie maintains close ties to her former colleagues here; participating in events such as the 2009 Cancer Survivors’ Celebration & Walk, the launch of the Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute, and the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation’s 2009 Benefit Luncheon.
On Thursday, October 15th, The Bonnie Hunt Show highlighted Northwestern’s Brain Tumor Institute, featuring an interview with a Northwestern medical student being treated for brain cancer.
