Center for Genetic Medicine (CGM)

The Center for Genetic Medicine (CGM) is a joint venture between Northwestern University, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Children's Memorial Hospital and Evanston Northwestern Healthcare. The mission of the center is to:

• Increase the understanding of fundamental genetic mechanisms.
• Discover the genetic basis of human diseases.
• Foster the development of genetically-based diagnostic tests for the evaluation of patients.
• Facilitate the development of genetically-based therapies.
• Stimulate the application of genetic technologies to the evaluation and treatment of patients at NMH, CMH and ENH.
• Coordinate Northwestern University's educational activities in the area of genetics.
• Improve public understanding of genetics and the impact of genetics and genetic technologies on society.
