Center for Genetic Medicine (CGM)
The Center for Genetic Medicine (CGM) is a joint venture between Northwestern University, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Children's Memorial Hospital and Evanston Northwestern Healthcare. The mission of the center is to:
- Increase the understanding of fundamental genetic mechanisms.
- Discover the genetic basis of human diseases.
- Foster the development of genetically-based diagnostic tests for the evaluation of patients.
- Facilitate the development of genetically-based therapies.
- Stimulate the application of genetic technologies to the evaluation and treatment of patients at NMH, CMH and ENH.
- Coordinate Northwestern University's educational activities in the area of genetics.
- Improve public understanding of genetics and the impact of genetics and genetic technologies on society.
