Lurie Cancer Center patient Katie Widmar provides care and comfort by distributing fleece blankets to fellow cancer survivors. Katie and her mother, Cindy, make the trip from Iowa around the holidays each winter, returning to Northwestern to personally deliver the "Covers of Comfort" they collect throughout the year.
Five years ago, just after her 18th birthday, Katie was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Today, Katie is cancer-free and grateful to be able to share her good fortune. "We have the perfect blanket for every single person," she says.
