Sadie Wignall Receives 2012 V Scholar Grant

Sara (Sadie) Wignall, PhD, Assistant Professor of Molecular Biosciences at Northwestern University’s Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences and a member of the Lurie Cancer Center, will receive one of 17 2012 V Scholar Grants.  These two-year, $200,000 grants are awarded to “rising star” physicians and scientists as they begin their careers in cancer research.

The V Scholar award will fund Wignall’s research, Targeting centrosome-clustering mechanims to selectively kill cancer cells. “Supporting cancer investigators early in their career not only advances specific research projects that are at the forefront of scientific discovery,” said Susan Braun, CEO of The V Foundation for Cancer Research. “It also adds to the cadre of people dedicated to ending cancer. We believe that the V Scholar grants are an investment in extraordinary people as well as in important research.”
