The Walk takes place on Sunday, June 6th, National Cancer Survivors Day.
The four-mile non-competitive walk, which begins in Grant Park at the corner of Columbus and Balbo Drives and continues along Chicago's lakefront, is expected to draw close to 4,000 participants—merging cancer survivors, family and friends with the physicians, scientists and health professionals who support them.
The celebration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the Walk steps off at 9:00. A day of festivities for the family includes an opportunity to sign the Dedication Wall, a picnic, music, entertainment and more.
The Lurie Cancer Center supports
the following concept from the
National Coalition for Cancer
Survivorship:
"from the moment
of diagnosis through the balance
of life, an individual diagnosed
with cancer is a cancer survivor."
