Annual State of the Cancer Union Forum

Faith-Health Consortium Conference
The OEMH serves as the focal point for identification and development of partnerships with other organizations committed to addressing the needs of minority and underserved populations. These key relationships include other academic medical centers, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, and the public sector. Efforts with these key partners is intended to foster and facilitate their ability to be responsive to the needs of their respective constituencies, with a priority being health related issues--primarily access to quality care.
Current efforts include the following:
- In conjunction with academic partners and the ACS, conduct an annual educational forum to update community-based professionals on progress, issues and challenges in addressing cancer health disparities
- In conjunction with academic and community-based partners, evaluate the potential for expanded cancer screening events for minority and medically underserved groups
- Provide leadership and technical assistance to community-based organizations in projects/initiatives that strengthen the efforts of grass-root advocates, community health workers, and participation in community-based research
- Implement a quarterly electronic newsletter and e-blasts during 2013 to enhance communication and strengthen partnerships
