The Associate Director for Clinical Affairs is appointed by and reports to the Director of the Lurie Cancer Center. This position is responsible for ensuring that the outpatient Clinical Cancer Center facilities and programs, which operate under the auspices of the Northwester Medical Faculty Foundation, are fully integrated with and support the research and education missions of the Lurie Cancer Center. The Associate Director serves on the Executive Committee and Leadership Group, playing a critical role in establishing the strategic direction, policy and priorities of the Lurie Cancer Center.
Julian Schink, MD, is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Feinberg School of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. In addition, he is Medical Director of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University at Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation.
Dr. Schink is a member of the Gynecologic Oncology Group, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting excellence in the quality and integrity of clinical and basic scientific research in the field of gynecologic malignancies, and has been a principal investigator of several cooperative group clinical trials investigating ovarian cancer chemotherapy and gestational trophoblastic disease. He is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists and the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation, having served as Chair of the Education Committee, Allied Support Group Committee, and as Vice President of the Society.
Dr. Schink is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and has been the recipient of numerous academic awards. Four times, Woodward/White has named him one of the Best Doctors in America. In addition, both Good Housekeeping Magazine and Ladies Home Journal have named Dr. Schink one of the nation's Best Doctors for Women.
