Dr. MacVicar is involved in the research of genitourinary malignancies. Although he treats patients with a variety of genitourinary malignancies, including testicular and kidney cancers, he has a particular interest in bladder and prostate cancers. He has been involved in phase II trials of bladder and prostate cancers, several of which involve novel targeted therapies. He has been an active member of the ECOG Genitourinary Committee, and he has served on the NCCN Prostate Cancer Guidelines Committee as well as the ASCO Genitourinary Education Committee. He has presented at both the ASCO Annual Meeting and the ASCO Genitourinary Cancers Symposium. Dr. MacVicar has also interacted with the Northwestern Prostate SPORE, working to develop clinical outlets for various SPORE projects.
