I have several accepted abstracts accepted to the annual 2012 American Urologic Association regarding post-operative surgical outcomes after major urologic cancer surgery. We extracted data from the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program. I have submitted a young investigator award for an NIH sponsored trial on the use of SNPs to select patients for active surveillance for their prostate cancer. This is based on our recent publication to suggest that a man's genotypic profile can be used to detect more aggressive prostate cancer. We have submitted a novel article to cancer research regarding the successful use of partial wave spectroscopy to quantify aggressiveness of prostate cancer. Currently, we are in the process of validating whether partial wave spectroscopy can be used to detect and quantify bladder cancer through voided specimens.
