Cancer Focused Research:
Dr. Kaiser is a medical sociologist and Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Social Sciences. Dr. Kaiser's research focuses on cancer control and women's cancers. She examines how social, behavioral and economic factors impact cancer diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Kaiser is also interested in the communication of cancer information, patient understandings of cancer risk, and the quality of life of cancer patients and survivors. Dr. Kaiser is PI of an American Cancer Society-Illinois Division study which examines factors that influence Black women’s motivation to be screened for breast cancer in Chicago. Dr. Kaiser serves as the Associate Scientific Director for NUCORE (Northwestern University Center for Outcomes Research and Education). In this role, she develops studies to assess patient symptoms and side effects and oversees qualitative data collection and analysis.
