Cancer Focused Research:
Dr. Bilimoria is a surgical oncologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is an assistant professor at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine with joint appointments in the Department of Surgery, the Institute for Healthcare Studies, and the Department of Medicine and the Social Sciences. Dr. Bilimoria was a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health and then at the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Bilimoria’s clinical practice focuses on melanoma, sarcoma, and breast cancer. Dr. Bilimoria is also Director of the Surgical Outcomes and Quality Improvement Research Center at Northwestern which focuses predominatly on surgical oncology. His research has focused on examining and improving the delivery and quality of healthcare for surgical and oncology patients. He is a Faculty Scholar at the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Bilimoria works extensively with the American College of Surgeons on surgical quality improvement initiatives, in particular the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP). This program provides risk-adjusted comparative outcomes data to participating hospitals to facilitate identification of areas for improvement. He is devloping the ACS NSQIP's program for measuring the quality of surgical cancer care.
