Cancer Focused Research:
Professor Anderson's research interests are centered on protein structure and its relationships with biological function. He is particularly involved in structural genomics, using genomic information to identify targets for high throughput structure determination. He is Director of the Center for Structural Genomics of Infectious Diseases and is a member of the Midwest Center for Structural Genomics. An important aspect of his work has been the development of X-ray facilities for structural biology research that will benefit Northwestern researchers and the broader scientific community. Professor Anderson is Scientific Director of the Life Sciences Collaborative Access Team at the Advanced Photon Source and is Co-Director of the Synchrotron Research Center. Research in the Anderson lab is focused on protein structure and the interactions of proteins with other molecules. One aim is to provide a starting point for structure aided drug discovery efforts.
