Clinical Research Connection
Welcome back. We hope the first edition of the Clinical Research Connection was of value to you; and that each subsequent issue includes information you can use; as well as an opportunity to increase communication and interaction.

Providing a vehicle for our affiliate members to share news, ideas and suggestions, reports on ECOG meetings and programs, and call attention to high-priority trials, are some of the goals for this newsletter. What else would you like to see? What kind of articles would facilitate our joint efforts? Please send Vera Jackson your feedback and suggestions at affiliates@northwestern.edu.

Advocate Christ Medical Center Cancer Institute

The Cancer Institute at Advocate Christ Medical Center has a longstanding history of experience in cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention, and is designated by the American College of Surgeons as a teaching hospital program—the highest designation for a non-university program. Because of their reputation as a tertiary and quaternary center for care, patients with all stages of cancer are regularly referred to Christ Medical Center from other institutions.

Christ Medical Center is noted for the treatment of newly diagnosed lung cancers, and they offer a dedicated breast health center. Oncology physicians review new cases in weekly multidisciplinary conferences, and share advanced technologies and discoveries that can be applied across the board to improve patient outcomes.

Home to the Keyser Family Pediatric Cancer Center and a member of the National Cancer Institute’s Children’s Oncology Group (COG), Christ Medical Center’s expertise extends to both adult and pediatric cancers. Through cooperative groups and industry-sponsored studies, physicians at Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital participate in hundreds of clinical trials, offering patients access to the most current treatments and contributing to their quality of life.

Christ Medical Center’s Cancer Institute is one of a few institutions in Illinois to offer cutting edge technologies for staging and diagnosis of tumors, including endoscopic ultrasound and endobronchial ultrasound. The first medical center in Illinois to treat lung tumors with CyberKnife® radiosurgery, they also offer video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), a minimally invasive diagnostic and treatment technology. More than 1,500 cancer patients each year receive advanced cancer treatment from over 900 nationally recognized physicians representing more than 60 clinical specialties.

The Advocate Christ Medical Center Cancer Institute is located at 4440 West 95th Street in Oak Lawn, IL. To learn more or make an appointment, call 1-800-3-ADVOCATE (1-800-323-8622) or visit advocatehealth.com/christ.
