  • Are vendors allowed at the Walk?
    - No. The Cancer Survivors' Celebration & Walk isn't about commercialism or product promotion. It's about bringing together survivors, friends and family to honor those whose lives have been affected by cancer.

    What is the Walk route?
    - Beginning in Grant Park at Columbus and Balbo streets, this leisurely, non-competitive walk will take you north along Lake Shore Drive where you'll turn around at Randolph to head back.

    Do I have to walk the entire course?
    - You can walk as long as you'd like, or stay at the site and enjoy the festivities.

    How long is the course?
    - The route runs approximately 4 miles beginning in Grant Park and continuing along Chicago's lake front.

    What are the walk-in registration times and locations?
    - Registration and t-shirt pick up locations are posted on our website.

    What size(s) of t-shirts are available?
    - T-shirts are available in children's LARGE and adults Extra Large. Some adult 2X and 3X will be available as well.

    Are pets allowed?
    - Pets are welcomed. But must remain on a leash. While we will provide t-shirts, breakfast, lunch and an overall great day - you'll be responsible for providing your own doggie clean up service.

    What is included with my registration fee?
    - Your $15.00 per person regsitration fee ($20 on the day of the event) includes a leisurely, noncompetitive walk along Chicago's lakefront followed by a picnic lunch for everyone. Family entertainment, including a DJ, appearances by Chicago area mascots and celebrities, as well as the opportunity to sign the Dedication Wall.

    Will the Walk be rescheduled due to rain?
    - The Walk will begin at 9 a.m. and will take place rain or shine. Besides, a little rain never hurt anyone.

    Does Northwestern validate parking?
    - No.

    Where can we park and how much does it cost?
    - South Grant Park parking lot (entrances on Michigan Avenue at Jackson and Van Buren). Trolley to walk site will be available from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

    - Discounted parking at Northwestern's Huron-St. Clair garage. Shuttles to walk site will be available from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

    - Suburban Shuttles
    • Leaves at 7:45 a.m. from the Cancer Support Center– Homewood
    • Leaves at 7:30 a.m. from the Living Well Cancer Resource Center– Geneva
    • Leaves at 7:45 a.m. from the Wellness House– Hinsdale
    • Leaves at 7:45 a.m. from the Cancer Wellness Center– Northbrook
    • Leaves at 7:45 a.m. from the Wellness Place– Palatine

    Are pledges required?
    - No. Although donations are welcomed, this is not a fund-raising event. It is a community awareness event and celebration.

    Should I bring children and grandchildren?
    - Please do! Kids have a great time with the DJ and team mascots, and there is a special kids' corner with activities just for them.
