Webb Named Assistant Director for Administration

Renee Riphenburg Webb has been named Assistant Director for Administration at the Lurie Cancer Center. She has served as Administrative Director for the Clinical Research Office (CRO) since 2001.

The Assistant Director for Administration is responsible for reviewing and recommending policies and procedures designed to enhance research administration relative to the overall mission and strategic goals of the Lurie Cancer Center. In this role, Webb will oversee the administration of the grants and contracts portfolio, including the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), and ensure compliant and effective daily management of operational functions. She will also leverage best practices, and partner with faculty to develop strategic plans regarding new and existing funding opportunities, research initiatives, and collaborations to improve overall research-associated financial management and performance.

“Renee is a talented and highly experienced administrator with extensive experience in the field of clinical research,” said Aleksandar Zafirovski, Associate Director for Administration at the Lurie Cancer Center. “I’m confident she’ll be a strong advocate for the continued expansion of infrastructure and services to support our faculty.”

Webb joined the CRO in 1996, and has been the primary domain expert for the Northwestern Oncology Trial Information System (NOTIS) since development of the clinical trial management system began in 1998. She served as the CRO’s Clinical Operations Manager, prior to becoming its Administrative Director, and has broad experience in clinical research operations, federal regulations and guidelines, and institutional research policy.
