Daniela Matei and Jindan Yu Named Co-Leaders Lurie Cancer Center Translational Bridge Program

The Lurie Cancer Center is pleased to announce that Daniela Matei, MD, Diana, Princess of Wales Professor of Cancer Research and Jindan Yu, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine, have been appointed as co-leaders of the Translational Bridge Program at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.  As co-leaders, they will oversee coordination and implementation of the Translational Bridge Program, select projects for funding and help physicians and scientists at the Lurie Cancer Center accelerate the translation of basic science research into novel clinical approaches.

The Translational Bridge Program provides Postdoctoral Fellows with funding to conduct novel research in cancer biology with the potential for translation into a diagnostic or therapeutic setting. Bridge Fellows design and execute a translational project that targets a specific cancer type in a basic science lab, headed by a seasoned investigator and partnered with a clinician with expertise in a particular cancer or clinical research field. Mentored and supervised by both senior faculty members, the ultimate goal of each Fellow’s work is to propel laboratory research into investigator-initiated clinical trials.
