Northwestern Hospitals Rank Among the Best in U.S. News Ranking

Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Lurie Cancer Center’s primary teaching affiliate, was recognized as one of the top hospitals in the country, ranking 13th on the prestigious Best Hospitals Honor Roll. Northwestern Memorial remains ranked 1st in both the Chicago Metro Region and Illinois for the sixth consecutive year.

Cancer Care Ranked 1st in Illinois and Chicago

Northwestern Memorial was once again recognized among the best hospitals for cancer care by U.S. News. The clinical home of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University earned a national ranking of t6th in cancer care, and 1st in Illinois and the Chicago Metro Region.

Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital was ranked 5th in both the Chicago Metro Region and Illinois. Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital was ranked 18th in the Chicago Metro Region and 23rd in Illinois.

“Northwestern Medicine’s continued success in the U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings is a reflection of our Patients First mission and our culture of excellence that drives us to not only be Chicago’s premier academic health system, but one of the best health systems in the country,” said Dean M. Harrison, president and chief executive officer of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare. “I applaud and congratulate our exceptional physicians, nurses and staff who provide world-class compassionate care to our patients each and every day. Without their talents and dedication, this accolade would not be possible.”

The Best Hospitals Honor Roll is a distinction awarded to 20 U.S. hospitals that deliver the highest quality of care across a range of specialties, procedures and conditions. Northwestern Memorial is nationally ranked in 11 out of 16 specialties, including cancer.

“Our physicians, scientists, nurses and supportive care teams are committed to translating innovative research into unsurpassed cancer care,” said Leonidas Platanias, MD, PhD, Director of the Lurie Cancer Center. “This recognition is a reflection of their determination and expertise.”

Lurie Children’s and AbilityLab Rank on Top

One of only 47 National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country, Lurie Cancer Center’s affiliated hospitals and physicians treat more than 10,000 new cancer patients each year.

Earlier this summer, U.S. News ranked our pediatric partner, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, as the 7th best children’s hospital in the country and only children’s hospital in Illinois to be ranked in all 10 specialties.

In addition, the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (previously known as the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) continues to be recognized as the national leader in physical medicine and rehabilitation, topping the U.S. News list for 27 consecutive years. Our proximity and affiliation with the AbilityLab enables us to coordinate world-class cancer treatment and rehabilitation for our patients.
