Cancer-Focused Research
Dr. Olivia Foley specializes in comprehensive care for patients with gynecologic cancers, including surgical management, chemotherapy, and targeted medical treatments. She is an expert in minimally invasive and robotic surgery and performs complex abdominal and pelvic procedures including radical debulking surgery for ovarian cancer. Dr. Foley also takes care of patients with a genetic predisposition to cancer and those with non-cancerous gynecologic conditions that require a more extensive surgical approach. She treats her patients with compassion and strives to collaborate with patients and families in developing a care plan. Dr. Foley is passionate about quality improvement efforts at Northwestern Medicine which help to make sure that every patient gets the best possible care. She developed a quality improvement project aimed at addressing nutritional causes of anemia for patients with gynecologic cancers on chemotherapy and serves on the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology quality committee. Her related research interest is in optimizing the location of care delivery and considering ways that patients can more easily access medical care when they are going through cancer treatment. In addition, she is highly invested in medical education, winning multiple resident and medical student teaching awards at her institution and publishing research around improving the clinical learning environment.
