I am a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery. I obtained my PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Illinois Chicago, followed by an American Cancer Society postdoctoral fellowship and an NCI-NRSA postdoctoral fellowship in Dr. Seema Khan's laboratory at Northwestern University (NU). My research interest is medicinal prevention and interception of breast cancer through disrupting the junction of oncogenic metabolism and inflammation in high-risk breast and in cancer cases at high-risk for brain metastasis. My research program consists of three active interconnected arms: A. Targeting the junction of lipogenic metabolism and inflammation to prevent sporadic ER-Positive and ER-Negative breast cancers B. Targeting lipogenic metabolism of brain tropic triple negative breast cancer: prevention and interception of metastasis C. Pharmacokinetics and toxicology assessment of promising agents such as L024 for the prevention and interception of breast cancer
