Cancer-Focused Research
My research lab has extensive experience in performing fluorescence in situ hybridization on formalin fixed paraffin embedded specimens as well as mutational analysis. As a result of some of our recent research we have identified specific chromosomal aberrations which are novel independent prognostic markers for melanoma highly predictive of aggressive disease. We are focused on developing newer molecular based methods to help distinguish melanoma from nevi and predict the behavior of melanoma and developing methods for diagnosis of melanoma at the earliest possible stage.
