Dr. Addington is a clinical health psychologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Social Sciences. As a member of Supportive Oncology, she provides individual therapy to adults receiving cancer care at Lurie Cancer Center, and she co-facilitates the bimonthly mindfulness group. Her research focuses on using approaches from health and positive psychology and integrative medicine to facilitate wellbeing in adults with cancer and other chronic illnesses, and their family members. She is particularly interested in how positive emotion regulation and yoga can contribute to psychosocial and physical health, even in the midst of stress and illness. Her goal is maximize access to and effectiveness of evidence-based therapies by using research design approaches such as stakeholder engagement and web-based delivery.
