Cancer-Focused Research
Whitney Stevens, MD PhD is a physician-scientist within the Division of Allergy and Immunology who focuses on acute drug hypersensitivity reactions such as anaphylaxis. Clinically, Dr. Stevens evaluates and treats patients who have developed acute infusion reactions to various cancer drugs including chemotherapy and immunotherapy. In select patients, Dr. Stevens oversees rapid drug desensitizations allowing patients with a history of drug-induced anaphylaxis to continue receiving the preferred oncologic treatment for their disease. In her laboratory, Dr. Stevens is investigating the mechanisms driving acute infusion reactions to platinum-based chemotherapy to develop better diagnostic assay and treatment strategies.
