Cancer-Focused Research
After joining the Radiation Oncology Department at Northwestern University, my interests have shifted to exploration of role of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor in cell signaling especially regarding responses to ionizing radiation. My extensive technical experience with cell signaling and transcription factors research has helped me in this work, and I developed mew skills in gene editing to pursue in-depth understanding of subtler aspects of EGFR signaling in radiation responses. I also participated in projects related to low dose radiation and transcriptomics of early cellular response to radiation in neuroblastoma cells. My future goals are related to cancer research from the aspect of environmental pollution and elucidation of subtle cellular mechanisms that regulate cancer development/progression in the presence of various heavy metals.
