Cancer-Focused Research
Dr. Alam's research includes clinical trials to identify safer and more effective treatments for skin cancer, as well as laser and cosmetic indications; multicenter cohort studies to better characterize the natural history and response to treatment of rare nonmelanoma skin cancers; qualitative research on patient perceptions and acceptance of treatment; methodologic work related to the development of clinical practice guidelines, particularly collaboration within and across organizations; explorations of peer review and editorial process at scientific journals; and investigations to identify the role of quality and evidence in the functioning of medical organizations and health systems.
