Cancer-Focused Research
Dr. Courtney Scherr's research focuses conversations in health that are challenging because of scientific complexity, risk, or uncertainty. Work conducted in her Health Communication Interaction Design lab uses a theoretically guided design process to develop messages and interventions that address such challenges, and increase patient understanding, promote informed decision-making, and adherence to medical recommendations. Dr. Scherr's research conducted in the context of cancer has focused on hereditary cancer risk, HPV vaccination, and oncofertility.
