Cancer-Focused Research
The main focus of my research is to investigate contributions of APOBEC3-mediated mutations in human cancer especially in non-AIDS defining cancer. Recently it has been well documented that more than 50 % of human cancers have APOBEC3-mediated mutation signatures in more advanced/metastatic cancers. It has also been suggested that dysregulation of APOBEC3 proteins would provide mutagenic fuel for evolution, heterogeneity, drug resistance and metastasis of multiple cancers. Understanding biological mechanisms underlying APOBEC3 regulation may provide new prognostic/therapeutic targets for cancer management.
