Cancer-Focused Research

My research focuses on the computational modeling of complex biological networks and systems and involves close collaboration with experimental cell biology and oncology researchers. This research combines large-scale data with rigorous mathematical methods from dynamical systems, network science, and machine learning to generate predictions that are then tested experimentally. The publications below illustrate some of these contributions. Ongoing projects include applications to cell reprogramming, cancer metabolism, drug scheduling, drug repurposing, and machine learning for the development of new glioblastoma treatments. Ongoing collaborations on-campus include the groups of Drs. Craig Horbinski (Pathology) and C. David James (Neurological Surgery). Membership with the Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center would facilitate interactions with clinicians, the implementation of drug screening experiments using shared facilities and infrastructure supported by the center, and the preparation of collaborative grant submissions.
