Cancer-Focused Research
Throughout my research I apply a social ecological framework to examine individual, interpersonal, organizational, social, and policy influences on cancer behaviors and outcomes. I am particularly interested in how patient understandings of cancer shape health behaviors, interactions with the healthcare system, and health outcomes. My current research examines breast cancer patient surgical decision-making and the growing use of contralateral prophylactic mastectomy.
